More Boating…

This past weekend was absolutely beautiful and since I still have my Dad’s Whaler, I was able to take advantage of it cruising down the North River in Marshfield…

I’m hoping to keep it long enough to take the trip again as the leaves turn!

Camper Kart Project

I went to school with some seriously talented folks. It’s amazing to get a glimpse of what they are up to and how their work is developing over the years. I have to say, Facebook really is great tool for that “keeping in touch” thing that I suck so bad at. Anyway, a link popped up on my “home Facebook page” with a video showing the makings of a Camper Kart. A what? That’s right, I said a “Camper Kart: a pop-up camper affixed to a shopping cart. It’s a functioning sculptural piece that seeks to explore aspects of housing, mobility, and autonomy.” Um…click…

…pure freaking awesomeness. Kevin Cyr, the artist behind this soon to be masterpiece has already built the Camper Bike, which again equals pure freaking awesomeness, and this is his next endeavor. Feast, a nonprofit that supports new and emerging artists, has begun to fund Kevin on the Camper Kart, but it’s a big project and more funding is needed to complete it. And, here’s the deal, not only do you help out an artist on his way to building pure freaking awesomeness but, Kevin will send you a print based on your pledge amount. So now the decision comes down to do I want a silkscreen print of Camper Kart or a photo? I wish I could fund the whole thing. I can’t wait to see the results. Good luck Kevin!

Portfolio Update

This past weekend, I updated my personal portfolio website, karaleeserra.com, to become a portal for the major projects that I’m working on. I pretty much wanted to be able to send Mom and Dad, my biggest fans, to one place to access my work. It’s much easier and less confusing to say go to www.karaleeserra.com to find my blogs, portfolio and jewelry instead of listing out all my urls. And, I really wanted to figure out how to implement blog RSS feeds directly into an html page. Very exciting and very dorky!
