I Am Truly Fearful

I interupt my studio blogging schedule to share with you our potential next Vice President. Apologies for the 30 seconds of advertising you must endure.

Studio Tour

I have turned my house into a giant studio. I really should have a wide open space with nothing in it other than tools and stuff to make stuff with…and maybe a bed, a small kitchen for yummy food making and a tv to watch Entourage, Scrubs, Heroes, Lost and good movies. So, here’s my space…

Office
Laptops + digital equipment for working on design stuff…

The best paper cutter ever piled with stuff that needs to be put away…

The shipping and lightbox area that also doubles as intern Shannon’s work space in the summer…

Studio
I cleaned it this morning…you could barely see a desk…

Guest Room
This is the space in the guest room carved out for the soldering + metalwork…

Dining Room
This is my dining room where the new Eden Collection was created. Dining rooms are stupid anyway…

Kitchen
And this is my kitchen counter…

***Note the laptop and Bose laptop speakers on the kitchen counter for watching Ratatouille while cooking.

The only areas I haven’t touched are the bedroom, bathroom and the living room…I have to have comfy places to rest my head.

My DIY Lightbox

I love my new lightbox. Thanks to this article on the Switchboards, I was able to make one myself…on the cheap. The only adjustment I made to the instructions was to spray-mount the interfacing to the outside of the tupperware container. I like things to look neat. Oh, and the bulbs are key! Use the GE Reveal light bulbs.

Non-Computer Related Projects

Lately, I have been hired to do a few off-computer projects and I LOVE IT. It’s so nice to peel myself away from the desk and get my hands dirty. Below is a Home Goods find that a friend of mine purchased with the full intention of having me re-paint it. I gave it a dark chocolate brown base with a little highlight to the raised areas.

I’m in Pop-Up Card Hell

Remind me never to take on a pop-up card assignment again! I have spent too many hours designing, cutting, taping, ripping, printing, re-cutting, re-designing, re-, re-, re- …to even count. I’m exhausted. Pop-ups are evil. Here’s my final prototype before the color is added…

Tilda Wants in on the Action

While taking some photos of the new Karalee Designs Eden Collection, my little monster (Matilda) decided to race back and forth in the yard behind me. She really wanted a piece of the action. She’s such a little smile-maker.

Firepit Design Completed!

The firepit is complete! I am so pleased with the results. The grass has filled in nicely and the adirondack chairs look so good after their 3 coats of urethane. I plan to add some large potted plants in the future but for now, this pit is ready to rock.
