Erin McKeown Tonight!

I’m going to see Erin McKeown tonight at Club Passism in Cambridge! This chick is freaking awesome! I’ve never really been a huge concert fan…a few here and there…but Erin is one not to miss. She puts on an amazing performance!

A few months back, I saw Erin in concert at the MFA and walked by her on my way to the girls room and was totally star struck…stupidly…no words…just in aw of her and her talent. The husband said I was glowing like a stupid teenybopper…I don’t glow and I never was a teenybopper…go figure…

More songs, better quality on her site www.erinmckeown.com.

How many names can a dog have?

Is there a rule? I have two little ladies…their formal names are Lucy and Matilda but they have so many more.

Matilda – Tilda, Toodah, Matoodah, Tootoo, Tilly, Til, Matootala, Fatilda, Tilda the Tank, Tilda the Hun, Poodah, Pooh (she reminds me of a real life Winnie the Pooh)

Lucy – Lulu, Lulubell, Lucybean, Lala, Miss Lucy, Juicy (she had a pee pee problem as a youngen)

All names can be combined together at anytime. For example, Miss Juicy Lucy, Lucy Lulubean, Tilda Pooh and my favorite, Toodah Toodah, are all acceptable forms of communicating our dogs names. I wonder if this confuses them…

Karalee Designs Has Re-Launched!

Karalee Designs Re-Launch

We are thrilled to announce the re-launch of Karalee Designs. Why is a re-launch so important you may be wondering? I’m so glad you asked. We have completely re-designed the site. The navigation remains the same easy to follow format but, we’ve given the look a clean and sophisticated over-haul.

In addition to the design, we have also taken a whole bunch of product/model shots so that you can see the jewels in action! Besides all the technical areas of the re-launch, there is a whole bunch of new stuff now available online. If you have been to one of our recent events you may have seen our new line of necklaces including, the strikingly bold chunkies, the petite minis + teenies, our custom Lulu and Tilly necklaces and simple charm necklaces, great for layering with our other designs. Along with the new necklace designs, we have also added some rockin’ rings, hairclips, and mini belt buckles to the mix. And, of course, we didn’t forget to update our signature lines too!

Finally, we have created a new section called the Icing. The icing is of course, the fun, colorful, tasty topping on the cake and we wanted some too! Included in the Icing section is a gallery of you and your bling (please send us your pictures to info@karaleedesigns.com), a list of recommended links we love, stories of naming some of the KD items, a link to the blah. blah. blog and the new bi-monthly drawing!

BI-MONTHLY DRAWING

Birdy Teeny NecklaceSubscribe to our mailing list to be entered in the Karalee Designs bi-monthly drawing. If you are already a subscriber, you are automatically in the drawing! The winner will be announced on the first of every other month and will be contacted through email for their mailing address. If your prize is not claimed within 10 days a new winner will be announced.

Our first drawing will be held on December 1 for the Birdy Teeny Necklace…just in time for the holiday!!

Please enjoy the new site and feel free to send any feedback and suggestions you may have to info@karaleedesigns.com.

Bazaar Bizarre

Bazaar Bizarre

Karalee Designs was accepted to be a vendor at the Bazaar Bizarre again this year! Last year, we debuted the Karalee Designs line at this funky show for the first time ever. Entitled, the Bazaar Bizarre…not your granny’s craft fair, this venue includes an ecclectic mix of vendors mostly from the east coast area selling anything from jewels and tees to faux taxidermy and plush toys. We are totally looking forward to doing the event again…even just to see what new items we can’t live without!!!

Uninvited Guest

We have a new roomate. We didn’t invite him. I want him to go away immediately. I’m afraid he’s going to eat Matilda.

Spider Roomate

Update: After obsessively scouring the net for the past hour, reading about spiders and breaking out in a sweat, I think we have an Orb Spider on our hands. Here’s the lowdown on this beast:

Venom toxicity – the bite of Orb-Weaving Spiders is of low risk (not toxic) to humans. They are a non-aggressive group of spiders. Seldom bite. Be careful not to walk into their webs at night – the fright of this spider crawling over one’s face can be terrifying and may cause a heart attack, particularly to the susceptible over 40 year olds.

Spider Identification – an adult is about 2/3 to more than 1 inch in body length – has a bulbous abdomen – often colorful – dark to light brown pattern. The common Golden Orb-Weaver Spider has a purplish bulbous abdomen with fine hairs.

Habitat – often found in summer in garden areas around the home – they spin a large circular web of 6 feet or more, often between buildings and shrubs, to snare flying insects, such as, flies and mosquitoes.

Thank you USA Spider Identification Chart. I still want him removed from my dwelling. He makes me itch.

JP Open Studios

Although the JP Open Studios was not quite as successful as we would have liked it to have been…we did have a bit of fun throughout the day. There was a spoken word group called Rhythm Fire that got up on stage in the afternoon and totally rocked, we received great responses from the few that passed by, collected a handful of email addresses, made a couple of sales, were finally pleased with the overall setup and display as shown below and text messaged Jenny Hill about how busy her spot was just to add salt to the wound.

Ode to Emmers

I came across a package of multi-green beads a while back and immediately had to have them for Emily. Emily is delicate yet in-your-face, allergic to cheap metals, a list-maker like me, a designer, a shoe-whore, pasty white (almost ghost like), one of my dearest friends, and a lover of the color green. So, when I found this little package of beads, I had to have them for Emmers and anything that is made from them will be called Emily. Here’s the first of many Emily’s which will soon be available on the web to purchase as of October 9, 2007.
